After a six month drought, I finally found another figure drawing class that had the right setup for me. I still feel like I’m shaking off the rust, and I’m trying to get used to the different posing times. The Gaijin class had short poses the first hour, that got progressively longer, and then three 20 minute poses for the last hour. This class is a little more loose with the times, with some of the final poses lasting an entire hour. The Nupastels I bought seemed to go down onto the paper like loose dirt, so I switched back to the Conte sticks.

These are 20 minute drawings done at the Gaijin Studios’ figure drawing class. Most of them were done with Conte crayon, but I’ve switched over to using NuPastels on the most recent ones. The Conte was smoother on the paper but you have to press a bit harder with it to make a mark. The Nupastel seems to go on a bit quicker and bolder. Also, the Nupastels come in a variety of colors and I want to try doing some multi-colored figure drawings down the road.
